This week, our local electricity retailer Indigo Power launched the Albury Community Energy Hub to support locally generated clean energy and build a renewable energy economy.

As recognition of Albury Wodonga being One Community when Indigo Power asked us what we wanted from a community owned (local shareholders) electricity company the answer was always one that serves both sides of the border. And now we have it!!

If you do not know, Indigo Power is a local, community-owned social enterprise and is based in the border region. RAW has partnered with Indigo Power previously on a hot water bulk buy and other projects and we are really excited about the launch of this hub!

A community energy hub allows residents to work together to create and share electricity.

Providing a clean and local alternative, with innovative renewable energy solutions, that keeps profits right here by investing in clean energy and community projects in our towns.

As you know, the electricity sector is the largest single driver of climate change. But we’ve also calculated that over $160 million leaves our region in electricity bills each year.

Working together to source and build as much local clean energy as possible, can help change that, and keep more money here.

Over the river, the Yackandandah Community Energy Hub is now about to build a locally owned community solar and battery project. We want to be able to do the same things here and that starts with making the switch to Indigo Power and joining your local hub.

Indigo Power services residential and small businesses so please share this throughout your personal and work networks.

RAW Energy member Bobbi McKibbin has looked at price comparisons fairly extensively and thinks that Indigo Power are very competitive in the residential market.  And in the business market Bobbi has seen businesses saving up to 33% on their electricity bills simply by making the switch.
