Indigo Power unveiled as community energy retailer’s name

The votes are in and the North East’s community energy retailer will be named Indigo Power, after the native flowering plant Indigofera Australis, found across the region. 

Community Energy Network convenor Cam Klose said the name was one of five options floated for public vote.

“The retailer is going to be owned by the local community so it makes sense they helped name the retailer,” Mr Klose said.

“We’re hoping to launch the retailer in early 2019 and will have some exciting projects coming up over the rest of the year, partnering with local businesses.

“Indigo Power will be guided by the community – particularly through the regional community energy network – so if people are interested, please join their local community energy group or get in touch.”

The retailer will sell electricity to customers and allow households with a solar and battery system to trade electricity with one another.

Indigo Power outvoted other name suggestions, Peppermint Power, Indi Power, Common Power and Bogong Electricity.
